Since directing the film,FARMERS FOOTPRINT, Tinker*ArtistNicol Ragland has been documenting the regenerative agriculture movement from Oklahoma to Minnesota to Texas as well as Australia. After learning from land stewards who are regenerating our depleting ecosystems, she founded REGENERATE OKLAHOMA - a soil health initiative advancing regenerative agriculture throughout the state.
WHAT IS REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE?
An agricultural philosophy birthed by our Indigenous ancestors for over a millennium. ‘Regenerate’ comes from the Latin word ‘regeneratus’, which means ‘created again.’ It signifies harm was done and healing must begin. Regenerative agriculture focuses on rebuilding organic matter and living biodiversity in our soil to produce nutrient dense food.
We are witnessing biodiversity degradation, water scarcity and pollution, food insecurity, toxic air quality, and intensified flooding and wildfires all of which are contributing to climate change.
NEVER HAS THERE BEEN A TIME TO BRING BACK LIFE AND ECONOMIC SUCCESS TO OUR AMERICAN FARMS.
